If English, is a mother tongue of a child the, teaching young learners English becomes quite an easy process. While teaching English as second language to the kids, certain technicalities and skills are required. Cartoons are being used to keep the attention
Children unlike adults have a very short attention span. Thus, it is important for the teachers to use games, stories and songs while teaching children English. The teachers are taught the ways to teaching English as second language in varied ways to the kids. While teaching kids through various activities another most important thing the teachers should keep in mind is to manage the classroom well. Working in groups and giving proper instructions can help the teachers in this regard. Using flash cards, films and cartoons can also help at times. As the kids learn English as second language it helps them to relate to the pictures and flash cards with the language.'

The video shows us several effective ways to use. These ways both help students to focus on the point and learn effectively. They are mostly the ways that include technology in creating. Through these ways, we, as teachers, can both keep young learners' attention and make them learn without getting bored. By the way, they can learn different aspects of a topic sequentially in only one activity. For instance, they can both learn 'tomato' and its color 'red' at same time.

'Kids look up to their teachers, thus the responsibility of the teachers are quite high. They have the power to build the future of the kids. Teaching young learners English will help them in the long run as English is the lingua franca of today. However, in conclusion teaching English to young learners is not just the responsibility of the teachers but the parents should be equall.'

  1. You are right. Language teaching is some challenging situation adn the students need care and effective strategies to learn the language , so there is big responbilities for the teachers.
''it is important for the teachers to use games, stories and songs while teaching children English.''.This sentence is important because with the games like these, learning English can be enhanced. I think this is realted my topic cricial thinking because these games urge children to think, visualize, practive the language and as a result of these, their communication and cognitive skills develop.

  4. I think that you are completely right, it is one of the most challenging things to grab young learners' attention. However, in my opinion in today's world technology and all other things that are related with education have improved a lot. So, we have various helpful ways to grab students' attention. Yet, the responsibility that young learners' teachers take is more than any other teacher as you have mentioned. Also, I think that your video is wonderful and very helpful for teachers of young learners! In addition, the way you designed your blog post is very nice and interesting and the pictures that you have posted are very colorful and perfect for your topic! :)

  5. Heheh, I didn't know teachers for young learners having highest salaries.
While reading this blog, I thought of my experience from nursery that we're doing voluntarily. We're trying to catch their attention with colourful pictures, realia, and videos. They like to sing songs. And it is really difficult to take their attention if you're not educated for young learners because their minds are unmatured they need attention. A person without special education for young learners cannot control the class. I think we're really lucky to have education for both young and adult learners as you mentioned in the blog.
There is a saying "with great power comes great responsibilty", this quatation is really like to be placed for that situation. We need to be very tolerant, caring, and giving proper regulations for young learners' attention, if vice versa happens kids probably will not tend to learn the language. As I said, teachers must be like their other parents then students can get used to them.

By the way, as I see from my experience our pupils want to learn both English and Turkish meaning of words while learning.

Lastly, I want to say that pictures and videos are well chosen to be viewed.
